Cafe Chef, Wild Strawberry Cafe

Chef/ cook required our “Wild Strawberry Cafe” starting in March 2017. 
 This could either be on a temporary contract until December or on a more permanent basis.

The chef will be cooking in a small but busy kitchen, producing rustic but beautiful, seasonal food with attention to detail. Small, seasonal menu, which changes depending what is available on the farm and from local suppliers.

The café is also increasingly being used an event venue so there will be opportunities to work on a variety of events from canapé parties and hog roasts to supper clubs.

Relevant experience at Chef de Partie level or above either in cafes, catering companies or small restaurants is desirable. However we would also consider someone with less experience if they could demonstrate willingness to learn fast and have a genuine interest in seasonal, local ingredients.

Hourly rate dependent on experience.

Hours are approximately 8am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday but would consider part-time applicants. Working weekends is essential. There will also be extra hours for evening events.

Full-time and Part-time Cafe Assistants/ Supervisor

We have job vacancies available for a full-time and part-time cafe assistants starting in March 2017. We are also recruiting for an experienced front-of-house supervisor or there would be the opportunity for the right applicants to progress quickly to this role.

The successful applicants will ideally have hospitality experience either in cafes, restaurants or events.

The job will include taking orders, preparing and serving drinks and food, clearing tables, cleaning and washing up.

The supervisory role will include the above as well as opening and closing up, cashing up, stock control and ordering, organising the rota, overseeing other staff members and generally taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the cafe. There will be also be the opportunity to get involved in event organisation and management.

The roles will be shift based and usually fall within the following:

Tuesday- Saturday: 8am-6pm

Sunday: 8am- 2pm

Full-time/supervisor applicants must be prepared to work weekends.

Flexibility to work evenings/ extra shifts for special events is essential.

Part-time Kitchen Porter, Wild Strawberry Café

We have a vacancy for a part-time kitchen assistant/ kitchen porter in the café starting in March 2017. We are looking for someone to work alongside our chefs. Main duties will include maintaining the pot wash and dish wash areas, cleaning the kitchen before and after service and assisting with food preparation and children’s meals. As it is a small kitchen there is scope to become more involved with food preparation. Experience in a similar role would be a bonus but not essential.

Hours will usually fall within the following:

Tuesday: 8am-6pm

Thursday: 8am-6pm

Friday: 8am-6pm

Flexibility to cover shifts/ work extra hours when needed on evenings and weekends is essential.

Skilled Farm Assistant

Horticulturally trained, full-time farm worker needed to assist in running our small, mixed horticultural unit. Growing a range of fruit, vegetables, flowers and Christmas trees for direct sales through Farm Shop.

Preferable to have: PA1 & PA2, Forklift and Chainsaw Licences. However, on-the-job training will be available for the right person.
