Top Tips for Gardening in May

More baskets

Now the weather is beginning to warm up and the sun is making the odd appearance, it’s time to don your gardening gloves and get to work…

So what should you be planting now?

Brian, our top gardener, suggests you begin by planting hardy perennial plants, such as:

Delphiniums, Lupin, Verbascum, Digitalis (Foxglove), Hosta, Iris, Daylilies, Hollyhock (Alcea) and Heuchera.

All of which are now on sale in our nursery!

To add some colour to your garden, plant a few of our vibrant homegrown bedding plants, such as:

Violas, Pansies and Antirrhinums.

It’s perhaps a little too early to plant your main bedding plants, however you could prepare your bed in advance. Our nursery is filling up with beautiful begonias, geraniums, fuchsias, and lots more- all of which are perfect for your main bed.

Lastly, we asked Farmer Roger what his top piece of advice for this time of year was and he (very helpfully) replied with “Osteospermum, we’ve got some beauties in the nursery and they’re just asking to be planted!!”

So, what are you waiting for?! Happy gardening!
